A partial migrant breeding on the Antarctic peninsula and migrating to South America. It is believed that the birds are ship-assisted to Brazil, South Africa, St. Helena and UK.

This bird was guided by Dr Gwenith Penry who was the first to photograph it. It was found on the cliffs/rocks at the back of the Robberg Peninsula in Plettenberg Bay.
